Editing Regulations

Section 3: Editorial Committee on Journal of the IEICE

Article 7
Article 7: An Editorial Committee on Journal of the IEICE shall be put in place to undertake the editing of the J. IEICE, and shall conduct the following activities:
(1)
Establishment of yearly plans for editing of the J. IEICE, and actual operations involved in the editing of the J. IEICE.
(2)
Maintaining consistency between articles published in the J. IEICE and articles edited and published by the various Societies.
(3)
Any other operations deemed necessary in relation to the editing of the J. IEICE.

The Editorial Committee on Journal of the IEICE shall be comprised of the Director, Publications, the Directors, Journal and Transactions, the Editors of the Journal, and about 50 other Associate Editors of the Journal, and shall be presided over by the Director, Publications. The Editorial Committee on Journal of the IEICE may appoint a temporary Associate Editor of the Journal as deemed necessary for the editing of feature articles, small feature articles, and special small features (excluding articles being handled by Regional Sections). The Editorial Committee on Journal of the IEICE may also establish a Special Editing Committee (Technical Topics Committee, Editing Committee for Special Small Features being handled by Regional Sections, etc.) in order to process specific operations involved in editing.

In the case of field-specific deliberations by the Editorial Committee on Journal of the IEICE, one Chief Examiner and a small number of Deputy Chief Examiners shall be appointed. The Editors of the Journal shall act as Chief Examiner. One of Deputy Examiner shall be a Committee Member recommended by the various societies; this person shall be particularly responsible for ensuring smooth communications between the Editorial Committee on Journal of the IEICE and the Society Editing Meetings.

The Editorial Committee on Journal of the IEICE shall be selected by the Director, Publications and the Director, Journal and Transactions, taking into consideration the recommendations of Retiring Members, Section Chairs, and President, Society (with some Member positions open to public calls for applications), and shall be appointed by the President.
5.
The operation of the Editorial Committee on Journal of the IEICE shall be undertaken according to the Editorial Committee on Journal of the IEICE Regulations stipulated separately.

Article 8
Associate Editors of the Journal shall assume office on the day of the annual General Assembly in May.
2.
The term of office of Associate Editors of the Journal shall be one year. As a rule, Associate Editors of the Journal shall hold these offices for two consecutive terms.
This period may be extended to a third consecutive term, however, when deemed necessary by the Director, Publications.
3.
The term of office of Special Editing Committee Members shall be one year, and Members may serve consecutive terms.


Section 4: Editorial Committees of the IEICE Transactions

Article 9
The Steering Committees of the various Societies shall each put in place an Editorial Committee of the IEICE Transactions (Japanese Edition) and an Editorial Committee of the IEICE Transactions (hereinafter referred to as "Editorial Committees of the IEICE Transactions).

Article 10
The following persons shall assume office on the day of the annual General Assembly in May: the Editor-in-Chief, Secretaries, and Members of Editorial Committee of the IEICE Transactions (Japanese Edition), and the Editor-in-Chief, Editors, Associate Editors, and Editorial Advisors of Editorial Committee of the IEICE Transactions.

The terms of office for the positions described in the previous Paragraph shall be according to the Editing Regulations for the various Societies.

Article 11
The Reviewer Database shall be managed at the Headquarters, and all Societies shall have common access. The new additions to or deletions from the existing Reviewers shall be undertaken based on applications by the various Societies.

The term of office of Reviewers shall be two years, and Reviewers may serve consecutive terms.

Article 12
Any regulations related to editing that are not stipulated in this Section shall be according to the Regulations of the Editing Committees for IEICE Transactions at the relevant Societies.


Section 5: Editorial Advisory Committee

Article 13:
An Editorial Advisor may be appointed to express opinions in response to requests for advice from the Director, Publications in relation to the editing of the J. IEICE or IEICE Transactions.

The Editorial Advisor shall be appointed by the President based on a recommendation from the Director, Publications.
3.
When deemed necessary, the Director, Publications may invite Editorial Advisors to attend an Editorial Advisory Committee.
4.
The Editorial Advisory Committee shall be attended by Editorial Advisors and Members of the Editorial Board.

Article 14
Editorial Advisors shall assume office on the day of the annual General Assembly in May.
2.
The term of office of Editorial Advisors shall be one year, and as a rule, these Advisors shall hold these offices for three consecutive terms. This period may be extended or reduced, however, in the event that the Director, Publications deems it necessary.

Article 15
These regulations came into effect on May 27, 2003.
