Following the timeline for IMT-2030 (6G), which was agreed by the ITU-R, the 3GPP held the workshop on use cases in May 2024. Since the 3GPP plans to hold the 6G workshop in March 2025, and start the 6G studies from June 2025, it is a good timing to hold the workshop on 6G radio access technology including its proof-of-concept (PoC) activities at VTC 2025 spring. This workshop is aiming to provide opportunities to present the latest wireless and mobile network technologies activities for 6G. Distinguished speakers from industry and academia will present their latest research and development results including PoC and discuss their perspectives regarding the new directions towards 6G. The discussion at the workshop is also expected to promote the exchange of new ideas among researchers. This workshop not only provides the key technologies for 6G but also its one of the promising applications, i.e., ambient intelligence that describes environments infused with intelligence to support diverse people regardless of age, gender, or other demographic factors, finds its practical manifestation in initiatives such as smart cities.
Topics
This workshop will cover the following topics but not limited to
- Wireless and mobile network technologies for 6G
- Technology trials for 6G
- Simulation-based technology validation for 6G
- PoC for local/private 5G and dedicated 5G network
- Hardware implementation issues of the 6G system in super high frequency (SHF) band or millimeter wave / terahertz band
- Sensing technologies for ambient intelligence
- Smart city applications based on 6G
- Validation of technology concepts for 6G by simulations or experiments
