APSITT'97

The 40th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hanoi University of Technology (HUT) is being celebrated on 15th October, 1996. Over the last 40 years, HUT has been continuously growing and making considerable contributions to the industrialisation and modernisation process of the country.

A large number of scientists and highly qualified engineers, who obtained various academic degrees of BEng., MSc and Ph.D.at HUT, have been working effectively in various fields of political, cultural and social life. as well as science & technology development throughout the country. The obvious achievements in training and research undertaken at HUT and their application to production activities, have contributed significantly to the flourishing national technologies.

Over the last decade, Vietnam has embarked upon a radical and comprehensive process of economic and social reform. Based on 40 years of tradition, HUT has been creative and dynamic in this process and has become a centre of excellence, It should continue to contribute more and more to socioeconomic development, industrialisation, and modernisation of the country.

The development of HUT has been linked with strong support from the Government, great efforts by HUT staff and students from generation to generation, and especially with wholehearted assistance from international organisations and individuals. Our friends and colleagues in the world have supported us not only in building up infrastructure and facilities, but also in teaching staff development. Over the years, international co-operation programmes have brought to the university effective staff with high academic the process of integration of HUT into the community within the region, and all over the world.

May I take this opportunity, on behalf of the university Rectorate and myself, to express deep gratitude to all related government and international organisations as well as to our friends and colleagues in the world for their strong support and assistance, I would also like to thank of the generations of university staff and students for their great efforts and valuable contributions to the prominent achievements of HUT.
