[IEICE-CS eNews<2009-13>] 21st ITC Specialist Seminar Call for Papers September 1, 2009. ======================================================================== Call for Papers ======================================================================== 21st ITC Specialist Seminar on Multimedia Applications - Traffic, Performance and QoE (http://www.ieice.org/cs/in/itc-ss21/) 2-3, March 2010, Phoenix Seagaia Resort, Miyazaki, Japan The 21st International Teletraffic Congress (ITC) Specialist Seminar will be held on 2-3 March 2010 at Phoenix Seagaia Resort, Miyazaki, Japan. The seminar is sponsored by the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers Communications Society (IEICE-CS). *ITC: http://www.i-teletraffic.org/ *IEICE-CS: http://www.ieice.org/cs/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Aims and topics: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Various multimedia/video services have emerged on the Internet, e.g., IPTV, P2PTV, web clipping, webcasting, 3D video conferencing, and digital cinema. These services are provided over various networks, from conventional wired IP networks to wireless networks such as Wireless LAN, Wireless MAN, and cellular telephone networks. People use various devices such as PCs, TVs, handheld gaming devices, and smartphones that can access these services. To support the emerging multimedia/video services that are accessed from diverse devices over various networks, it is crucial to better understand the fundamental characteristics of services and the underlying systems; e.g., characterizing service workload and modeling/evaluating system performance. It is also crucial to address how we can monitor and improve end-to-end QoS and user QoE (Quality of Experience) in these services. The primary objectives of this ITC Specialist Seminar are to identify early and future traffic and performance issues and to develop methodologies that address various aspects of traffic and performance in multimedia applications and video services. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following areas concerning emerging multimedia applications and video services: * Traffic modeling * Traffic and QoS management * Traffic forecasting * Traffic dimensioning and design * Performance evaluation * QoE monitoring/evaluation * QoS measurement * Congestion control * Network measurement * Application measurement ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Important dates: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Full paper submissions due: October 16, 2009 Notification of acceptance: December 31, 2009 Author registration due: February 1, 2010 Camera-ready paper due: February 11, 2010 Conference: March 2-3, 2010 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Submission instructions ------------------------------------------------------------------------ All paper submissions will be handled electronically in EDAS.
