2004年北海道大学大学院理学研究科物理学専攻修士課程修了。
同年（株）日立製作所入社、中央研究所に配属され，以来、空間情報システムの研究に従事。
現在、同社、研究開発グループ・デジタルテクノロジーイノベーションセンタ所属、主任研究員。
2012年より国際標準化団体OGC(Open Geospatial Consortium)にて標準化活動に携わり、国際標準仕様策定に貢献。
2018年博士(工学)。電子情報通信学会、情報処理学会会員。
［Biography］
Akinori Asahara received the M.S. degree in Physics from Hokkaido University in 2004. He joined Hitachi Ltd. in 2004. Since then, he has been engaged in the research and development of geospatial information systems until now.
He is working for Center for Technology Innovation - Digital technology in R&D Group of Hitachi Ltd., as a Senior Researcher, in the present.
At 2012, he was involved to international standardization in OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium) and has contributed to the establishment of international standards.
He got Ph.D. in Engineering in 2018. He is a Member of IEICE and IPSJ.
