1988年東京工業大学機械工学科卒業．1990年東京工業大学大学院理工学研究科修士課程修了．同年日本電信電話(株)入社．以来，ソフトウェア開発手法，ATM交換システム，高可用ミドルウェア，次世代ネットワークの研究・開発に従事。2009年よりＮＴＴドコモにて，ネットワークアプリケーションシステムの開発，2014年よりＮＴＴネットワークサービスシステム研究所にて，ネットワークシステム，オペレーションシステム等の研究・開発に従事．現在，同研究所所長．

昨今，デジタルトランスフォーメーションが広がる中，社会生活の変化とともに情報通信はますます重要な技術になってきています．今後はこれまで以上に多分野の技術が有機的につながることで新たな技術が生み出される社会となり，研究者においても幅広い知識とその組み合わせによる創造力が求められると考えます．東京支部にてこれら研究者の育成や技術の進展を支えるとともに，本学会の発展に貢献すべく微力ながら尽力させていただく所存です．
［Biography］
Shinya Tachimoto received his Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology. He joined NTT in 1990 working initially on the development of switching systems in the 1990s. He had a key role in next-generation network (NGN) system development and network integration testing in the 2000s and was responsible for developing mobile network service applications at NTT DOCOMO for five years in the 2010s. He then returned to NTT becoming head of NTT Network Service Systems Laboratories, where he is in charge of R&D for network service systems such as NFV/SDN systems, operation and transport systems, and the public switched telephone network (PSTN) system.

Amid recent calls for a digital transformation throughout society, information and communications technology will become increasingly important as our everyday lives undergo major changes. From here on, we will become a society in which new technologies are born as the connections between technologies in diverse fields become stronger than ever. Researchers, as well, will require creative abilities based on a broad range and combinations of diverse types of knowledge. Here at the Tokyo section of IEICE, I aim to support the development of these researchers and advances in technology while striving to contribute to the further growth of IEICE.
