Summary:
A hybrid technique is presented that combines the finite element and boundary integral methods for simulating electromagnetic scattering from complex inhomogeneous bodies of revolution. In the proposed method, higher order elements are used in the interior FEM region, first-order elements are used in the surface MOM region. The method has been successfully applied to investigate scattering by penetrable axisymmetric devices with inhomogeneous and anisotropic permittivity and permeability, which is important and helpful to analyze the scattering characteristics of metamaterials.
