Summary:
This paper reports on a design technique for broadband high frequency wire antennas. The antennas are loaded with RLC circuit elements to achieve broad impedance bandwidth (for a desired VSWR) and possible high gain, through modifying the current distribution. These loads can be parallel RLC circuits optimized via Genetic Algorithm (GA) for maximum bandwidth. The GA iterative1y guides a population of randomly selected design parameters towards the objectives. Matching network for the loaded antenna is designed to reduce in-band VSWR. The effectiveness of the proposed procedure is demonstrated through design examples with broadband performances.
