Summary:
In-vehicle mm-wave radar is being put to practical use for autonomous driving and driving support of automobiles. In addition, since the environmental conservation movement is increasing worldwide, measures to reduce environmental impact using bicycles are being promoted in each country. In this study, a 77 GHz-band frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar module was used for our experiments, with multi-input multi-output (MIMO) configuration with three transmitting antennas and four receiving antennas. Road obstacles and a pedestrian were detected while traveling on a narrow bicycle-pedestrian road in at central area in Tokyo using this mm-wave radar. Looking at the detection results, It was figured out that the guardrails, building, taxi, and the pedestrian have been detected form experiments.
