Summary:
This paper proposes a successive interference canceller (SIC) for a power-domain non-orthogonal multiple access (PD-NOMA) based coherent passive optical network (PON) system. The PD-NOMA scheme combines two user signals having different powers. The proposed SIC consists of a $4\times2$ multi-input and multi-output (MIMO) adaptive equalizer and a two-stage carrier frequency offset estimator and removes the interference between two signals. Moreover, owing to controlling the transmission power from each optical network unit (ONU), the optical signal-to-noise power ratio is optimized when employing the uplink PD-NOMA on the PON system.
