Summary:
This paper evaluates transmission performance of a digital pre-distortion method followed by compander to compensate nonlinear distortion for LED visible light communications by computer simulations. The compander characteristics are optimized by the evaluation results, and the adaptive control method of the characteristics is proposed according to Carrier-to-Noise Ratios (CNRs). The results show that the proposed method can linearize transmission signals in LED saturation region, and it is effective in transmission performance improvement.
