Summary:
In recent years bicycle accidents are increasing. In-vehicle mm-wave radar is being put to practical use as a support for safe driving of automobiles, while on-bike mm-wave radar is being tested to prevent forward collisions and to support visibility. Under such circumstances, pedestrians cannot be detected stably on a pedestrian bicycle path equipped with many road obstacles such as guardrails and road signs. In this paper, , we tried to detect pedestrians by suppressing static obstacles by coherent integration of the signals after range-FFT in a narrow bicycle-pedestrian-road where many road obstacles, with the 77GHz-band mm-wave frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar. In the experiment, it was confirmed that many road obstacles were suppressed and pedestrians were extracted. The SNR was improved by 4 dB.
