Summary:
Currently, agriculture in Japan is facing major problems such as a declining and aging workforce. Therefore, many engineering approaches are being developed for smart agriculture with the goal of improving efficiency. In this study, we report the development of an algorithm to identify the center of gravity of tomatoes for automatic harvesting by robots. In this paper, the center of gravity is determined by using the normal from the point cloud obtained from the RGB-D camera. In addition, the accuracy of the algorithm is verified on tomatoes in bunches as an experiment.
