Summary:
With the new coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, much attention has focused on the non-contact operation of various devices in public places. In recent years, aerial imagery has begun to be used as an interface for the non-contact operation of equipment. Although there have been many demonstration tests of equipment operation interfaces using aerial imagery, most of them are built-in to existing equipment. Therefore, it is difficult to say that anyone can immediately introduce operations using aerial imagery into the equipment around us. If operation mechanisms using aerial images can be retrofitted to existing equipment, anyone will be able to introduce and utilize noncontact equipment operation mechanisms in various situations. In this paper, we report on an on-site qualitative usability test of a prototype system that enables the non-contact operation of a push-button on existing equipment through aerial image operation. The experiment results will clarify problems and areas for improvement when a push-button operation of existing equipment is performed with retrofitted equipment utilizing aerial imagery.
