Summary:
Using dynamic voltage scaling (DVS) technique, we can reduce the CPU power consumption by setting a low CPU frequency. In this paper, we improve the elastic scheduling proposed by Marinoni and Buttazzo. We adopt a force compressing tasks as the performance degradation and resolve a trade-off between the power consumption and the performance of tasks with desired rate. We propose a power-aware elastic scheduling algorithm, by which we optimize an objective function given by weighted sum of the power consumption and the force. By simulation, we demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed algorithm. Its computational complexity is polynominal.
