Summary:
This paper analyzes the basin of attraction of a stable equilibrium point representing a steady operating condition of synchronous generators in a two-site electricity and heat supply system. The analysis is used for considering the effect of heat transfer management on the dynamics of the generators. The basin of attraction becomes small depending on the heat transfer rate, and a change of the set-points of the combined heat and power plants for regulating the heat transfer rate possibly destabilizes the generators.
