Summary:
Cascading failures have been extensively studied in complex networks. The links in the network can be critical for the propagation of such failures in two aspects. Links which can enhance the propagation can be viewed as negative, while links which can suppress the propagation can be viewed as positive. In this paper, we use an optimization method to identify these two kinds of critical links, which can help people make appropriate measures to defend against cascading failures.
