Summary:
We compare the information transfer measured by the symbolic entropy transfer (STE) and a new directionality indicator based on the mutual information of transcripts (TMI), using brain recording data, speciffically local field potentials of the visual cortex and thalamus during spontaneous activity. The comparison shows the adequacy of TMI, the interesting point being that TMI has one dimension less than STE.
