Summary:
Laser chaos has great potential in random number generation and anti-jamming radar due to its complexity and broad band. Unfortunately, the external-cavity feedback semiconductor laser (ECL), a paradigm of chaotic laser system, has two intrinsic oscillations that limit the bandwidth and flatness of spectrum of chaotic output. We experimentally and numerically demonstrate that an optical heterodyne method of two ECLs can generate a wideband chaos and eliminate the time delay signatures simultaneously.
