Summary:
In a ring of coupled bistable oscillators, a standing pulse wave appears when the coupling is weak. This standing pulse wave becomes a propagating pulse wave when the coupling strength exceeds a certain cirtical value. We clarify this mechanism using bifurcational analysis of a certain periodic solution.
