Summary:
This paper proposes to incorporate an erasure code into epidemic-style broadcast in a wired network, aimed at improved performance. The idea is to encode a broadcasting message with an erasure code and then to broadcast each of the encoded blocks using an epidemic protocol. Analytical and numerical results of the stochastic properties of the proposed approach are presented.
