Summary:
In this paper, an original analysis on the uplink spectral efficiency of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is introduced. Based on our accurate approximation, a closed-form expression of the spectral efficiency is proposed. Unlike the literature, the proposed expression yields accurate values, validated by Monte- Carlo simulation, of the spectral efficiency when the channel gains are Nakagami distributed and the random number of active users are taken into account.
