Summary:
Holographic data storage system has good characteristics of high recording density, transfer rate, and short access time. On the other hand, it has a serious problem of two dimensional inter-symbol interference. Furthermore, because one pixel can save more than 1 bit per pixel in multi-level HDS, the storage system has small noise margin for symbol detection that causes more errors. In this paper, we propose a 4/6 modulation code which mitigates two dimensional inter-symbol interference for multi-level HDS.
