Summary:
The combination of bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM) and low-density parity check code (LDPC) has been studied extensively because of the design simplicity with highperformance [1], [2]. When the average transmission power is limited to S, the probability distribution of transmitting signals to achieve additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel capacity has been shown to follow a Gaussian distribution input with mean 0 and variance S. To design the transmission probability distribution like a Gaussian distribution is called probabilistic shaping. In recent years, the design and analysis of BICM with a pseudorandom sequence (BICM-P) have been proposed and those bits can be used as known information to improve the decoding performance [3]. However, probabilistic shaping for BICM-P has not been studied. In this paper, we propose a probabilistic shaping scheme for BICM-P. We apply the shaping scheme especially for 2m- amplitude phase shift keying (APSK) which has been adopted by digital video broadcasting satellite standard extensions, DVB-S2X [4]. Simulation results show that our proposed scheme can achieve nearly 0.25 dB gain over AWGN channel compared with conventional scheme.
