Summary:
This paper proposes a new class of convolutional codes for centralized disk arrays and distributed storage systems, and compares their tolerating capabilities with existing block codes. These convolutional codes have the characteristics of nonsingular transpose parity-check submatrices, they can solve erasure situations that the existing block codes of the same rate fail to solve for storage systems.
