Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | A human guesses the intention and the function of a robot and adapts to the robot, and at the same time, the robot learns from the reactions of the human and adapts to the human. This phenomenon is called mutual adaptation. The ultimate goal is to propose a learning method for the mutual adaptation robot. In this study, I conduct experiments in which a robot expresses its intention to a human. Although the robot can indicate its intentions more precisely if it uses a predetermined action for each intention, it gives a higher impression of being humanlike and intelligent if it changes its behavior through mutual adaptation. Additionally, I design the behavior of the robot based on the interaction between an infant and its caregiver. The experimental result suggests that the robot might give less friendly impression than the robot which changes its behavior through mutual adaptation. |
