Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this study, subjects were asked to trace a line on a monitor screen, and the pen position was measured with transparent touch sensor. Simultaneously, their eye-gaze was measured with Tobii eye tracker and the temporal and spatial relationships were analyzed. Two groups of people, with different experiences in calligraphy were recruited. One consisting of professional calligraphers and the other of those with no official training of calligraphy. We calculated (1) the relative position of pen-tip and gaze, (2) identified the fixation and smooth pursuit in eye movement. At least, some expert calligraphers showed predictive eye movement when tracing a line. Periodically, their eyes fixated at the position some centimeters ahead the pen-tip, and when the pen-tip reached the position, they start saccadic movement.
