Development of Operational Interface for Electric Wheelchair using Pressure Distribution

Abstract(in English) The operational interface for electric wheelchair was developed using the seat pressure distribution with the posture change. The seat pressure distributions were measured with a pressure sensor array seated on the wheelchair. The movements of the upper body could be discriminated by a template matching. The developed interface was built in a commercial electric wheelchair. As a result of experiment, it was able to move to 8 directions stably.
