Fabrication of Transition between NRD Guide and Rectangular Hollow Metal Waveguide and Evaluation of Some Characteristics in W-bands

Abstract(in English) The NRD guide (Non-Radiative Dielectric Waveguide), being a candidate for transmission media at millimeter-wave frequency bands, has been developed for application fields of ultra-high bit rate communications, high resolution radars, and so forth at frequencies of 35GHz, 50GHz, and 60GHz. Having these facts in mind, the NRD guide technology was applied at the 94GHz frequency band, called "windows in spectrum", which attracted much attention for the construction of novel wireless systems. In this paper, we designed and fabricated the launcher between the NRD guide and the rectangular-hollow metal waveguide to evaluate the NRD guide circuit components at this frequency bands. And moreover, the unloaded Q factor was measured to verify the low loss performance of the NRD guide if the NRD guide was used at 94 GHz.
