Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The authors propose a novel system to provide support for standing and walking based on miniscule fingertip force known as light touch contact (LTC), which enables the mitigation of body sway in a standing state. The system involves the use of a virtual impedance partition around the user and leverages virtual force feedback provided by a vibrotactile stimulator when the partition is touched (known as virtual light touch contact, or VLTC). In line with the study ' s aim of developing a wearable device for standing support, the authors propose a novel VLTC system involving the use of an acceleration sensor without a motion capture system. The results of related experimentation showed that the system helps to mitigate body sway in healthy subjects.
