Abstract(in English) | Kyushu Institute of Technology has researched on Mars flight exploration flight system utilizing microwave power transmission. This study aims at design, prototype production and performance tests of a small unmanned aerial vehicle. The performance of rectenna, propulsion system, and aircraft were tested in the anechoic radio wave chamber of A-METLAB at the RISH (Research Institute for Sustainable Humanosphere) of Kyoto University. The received power of the rectennas mounted to the aircraft was measured, and it was not enough to obtain the thrust for the level flight. The static thrust of the propulsion systems for the aircraft were evaluated. The aerodynamic characteristics of the aircraft was calculated by the gliding flight test. Finally, powered flight using battery was conducted and succeeded. Based on the results, the improvement plan of the microwave powered aircraft was proposed. |
