On the Qualities of Stego Siren Sounds for Disaster Prevention Broadcasting Using Audio Data Hiding

Abstract(in English) A disaster prevention broadcasting based on audio data hiding using complete complementary code has been proposed. In the proposed system, the stego sound is obtained by embedding disaster information into cover audio signals such as siren sound and voice announcement for evacuation guiding. The stego sound is broadcast by a loud speaker and recorded by smartphones or tablets. The embedded information can be extracted from the recorded stego sound, which realizes a quick and reliable information transmission under the disaster situation. In this study, two stego siren sound signals are considered. One is constructed by embedding the disaster information into significant frequency bands of the cover siren sound. The other is a pseudo siren sound generated only from the embedded information without using any cover signals. The quality of such two stego sound signals are compared. In addition, the bit error rate performances are evaluated for both cases through analog transmission experiments using stego sound signals broadcast from a loud speaker in a laboratory and a gymnasium.
