Consideration of watermarking method embedding surrounding region of SIFT feature

Abstract(in English) We considered a watermarking method embedding surrounding regions of SIFT feature points. In digital watermarking, it is required to extract watermarks exactly from the image distorted by geometric attacks. The geometric attacks are the attacks such that the coordinate system of the image is distorted by scaling, clipping and so on. Since the coordinate system of the distorted image is out of alignment, it is difficult to extract watermarks. Therefore, watermarking methods by using scale invariant feature point should be explored. SIFT is one of scale invariant feature detectors. It can extract the feature points based on gradient in the image. For conventional method using SIFT, redetection ratio of SIFT feature points declines, since the watermarks are embedded into regions including SIFT feature points. To avoid negative influence of embedding watermarks, we proposed a watermarking method embedding surrounding regions of SIFT feature points. In decoder, a lot of watermarks can be extracted from detected SIFT feature points. The extracted watermarks have some errors. Therefore, we introduce majority voting. We compared the proposed method with the conventional method by using the redetection ratio of SIFT feature points and bit error rate of the watermarks. As the result, the proposed method can improve the redetection ratio. Also, our method can extract watermarks without errors from attacked stego images.
