Development and Evaluation of Seminar Activities Aiming at Improvement the Fundamental Competencies

Abstract(in English) Development of human resources with the Fundamental Competencies for Working Persons has become one of urgent tasks with recent rapid social environmental changes. It is especially required in university education, and many styles of class aiming at improvement the competencies are being developed.The central component giving such classes will be seminar activity in future's university education. Development of the various means like our method in this report is urgent. PBL lesson in particular is effective among such classes. But it's difficult to measure the students' Fundamental Competencies and to impart awareness to students. So, in this study, we introduce a rubric for measuring the students' competencies by self-evaluation and peer evaluation in PBL lessons. And we investigate that differences between self-evaluation and peer evaluation promote students' awareness of the Fundamental Competencies, and the awareness leads to improvement the students' competencies. In addition, the goal of study is showing of guidelines for developing lessons that train the students' Fundamental Competencies as one of functions in seminar activity.
