Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Message authentication is a cryptographic scheme which enables a legitimate receiver with a correct shared key to verify the validity of message. Since most current message authentication schemes employ fixed-length message authentication codes (MACs), message-authenticated narrowband communication needs truncation of a MAC, scaledown of message field, and others. It obviously leads to a lot of problems, for example, security deterioration or communication load growth or both. In this paper we introduce a new message authentication scheme with variable-length MAC which reduces deterioration of security and communication load.
