Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this report, we propose a spot navigation system to assist visually impaired individuals in recalling memories related to spots that they often visit. This system registers mosaicked environmental images and voice memos that are recorded in advance by a visually impaired individual or his or her supporter at various spots. When the visually impaired individual visits one of the spots, the system determines the current spot by matching the registered images with a current image by use of the histgram equalization and the SIFT operation, and then plays a voice memo which corresponds to the current spot. The performance of the system is evaluated by applying it to actual scenes.
