Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Smartphone is increasingly a part of modern life. It has many functions such as Web browser, speech recognition and image recognition, and which are useful for also visually impaired people. However, one of the most significant barrier for visually impaired people is touch screen operation especially text entry when they use smartphones. This paper reports on text entry experiments with a text entry method, "MOVE&FLICK". This method allows the people to enter the text with finger gesture on the touch screen. In the experiments, 11 of 12 blind people were able to perform text entry and Kanji conversion with the method after only an hour tutorial. Besides, we found that the method is acceptable to people who had entered text with smartphones than who had not.
