Development of Classification Support System for Prolate Spheroid-Shaped Fruits and Vegetables by Fast Capturing Images

Abstract(in English) In recent years, the population of agricultural workers decrease and the population aging has become a problem. Thus, the load reduction of agricultural work has been desired strongly. Therefore, we have developed a device for sorting fruits and vegetables into equal classes by using an image processing to reduce the load in the long visual selection by agricultural workers. The developed device can be produced compactly at a low cost, which can capture and classify prolate spheroid-shaped fruits and vegetables in short time. In this paper, we explain the developed device and verify its validity by the identification experiment for peppers, an example of spheroid- shaped fruits and vegetables.
