Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We are developing an open-type PET, OpenPET, which have an open space between detector rings enabling easy access to patients during PET measurements. The image reconstruction of the OpenPET requires modeling of the detector response function (DRF) as accurate as possible because there are a lot of oblique lines of response (LORs). In this study, we developed a DRF model in which parameters for the asymmetric 2D Gaussian function defined on a plane perpendicular to the LOR are automatically determined by the positions and orientations of crystals in the coincidence pair. The model was implemented on multi-GPU platform. The experimental result using the whole-body OpenPET prototype showed that the proposed method could improve spatial resolution at the open space.
