Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | The automatic identification system (AIS) provides wireless communication services between ships and ships or between ships and base stations along coasts. Experiments that satellites receive AIS signals have been conducted and called space based AIS experiment (SPAISE). Since several AIS packets collide at a satellite, however, ordinary signal detection schemes cannot separate and detect collided packets. To cope with such a problem, this report proposes applications of multiuser detection into SPAISE. First, Doppler frequencies, delay timing, and channel impulse responses of the collided packets are estimated by correlation between received signals and known training signals. Using the estimates, successive interference cancellation and Viterbi algorithm perform multiuser detection in order to separate and detect the collided packets. Computer simulations under two-user conditions demonstrate that SIC is very effective when difference of received power among users is greater than or equal to about 7 dB, and that multiuser detection by Viterbi algorithm cannot provide good BER performance because the Doppler frequency is not accurately estimated. |
