Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The co-location detection of mobile devices is valuable for various applications such as ad-hoc information sharing and analysis of human communication. Ideally, a co-location detection solution should be easy to deploy, accurate, energy efficient, scalable, and privacy/security protective. In this paper, tackling these criteria, we show the system called CoHear which uses ambient sound for co-location detection of mobile devices. CoHear extracts the ambient sound feature considering microphone's frequency characteristic and stationaly sound. Experimental evaluation using 5 different model devices show that CoHear discriminates 8 places with 0.86 F-measure. We also show experimental results about the energy consumption and the number of devices which can be accommodated.
