Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this manuscript, recent standardization of IEEE 802.11 high-speed WLANs for microwave spectra. First, the major techniques for the latest high-speed WLAN standard, IEEE 802.11ac (11ac), are overviewed. The 11ac is based on single-user MIMO-OFDM in IEEE 802.11n and it extends the system parameters of 11ac such as the number of spatial streams, the number of constellation points per subcarrier, the channel bandwidth and the number of bits per wireless frame to meet the demanding requirement of 500 M bit/s on peer-to-peer throughput, 11ac also defines downlink multiuser-MIMO (DL MU-MIMO) to achieve the other requirement of more than 1 G bit/s system throughput. In DL MU-MIMO, an access point transmits up to four stations by using spatial multiplexing with transmit beamforming to avoid interference between the received signals of the stations. Then, the current status of the Task Group (TG) ax, that is discussing post-11ac standard, is also introduced. The TGax is now working to publish IEEE 802.11ax (11ax) in March 2019. One of the most serious problems in current future WLANs is the degraded system throughput due to dense deployment of APs and STAs. The TGax set 11ax's goal to perform four time improvement of throughput in a real-world dense deployed scenario. Several candidate techniques to achieve this goal are now being discussed. Uplink/downlink OFDMA (orthogonal frequency division multiple access) and uplink MU-MIMO are the most promising techniques to improve transmission efficiency by increasing the number of multiplexed users. DSC (dynamic sensitivity control), which increases spatial frequency reuse factor by adaptively controlling threshold of physical carrier sense level, is also an attractive technique and is being widely discussed.
