Abstract(in English) This paper discusses key enabling technologies to realize wide area and mobile communication systems based on IEEE 802.15.4g wireless smart utility network (Wi-SUN) that is mainly used for advanced metering infrastructure. Firstly, three applications of the wide area and mobile communication systems are proposed. Then, transmission performance is evaluated by using propagation characteristic models for the three applications. Service area of the communication systems is finally estimated. Secondary, the service area calculation is validated by using actual Wi-SUN certified IEEE 802.15.4g modules. Thirdly adoption of maximum ratio combining diversity technique is proposed for the IEEE 802.15.4g based wide area and mobile communication systems. Then extension of the coverage area by the technique is evaluated by computer simulation.
