Abstract(in English) | This article presents the development and the laboratory experiment of radio equipment for TV White Space wireless smart utility network (TVWS-Wi-SUN). A Wi-SUN is a ubiquitous wireless network that monitors, commands, and controls for service providers at one end, and measures, collects, and analyzes data for consumers at the other. Utility control and metering are typical Wi-SUN usage. In addition, agriculture monitoring, street light, and industrial automation system are also the target usage of Wi-SUN. It is notable that Wi-SUN can support many kinds of application. However, congestion and interference issues degrade the network system efficiency since several thousands of meters or sensors potentially exit in the network. Additionally, how to cover the wide service area is another issue for Wi-SUN. To address these issues, the TV white space communication technology, which occupies the frequencies allocated to TV broadcasting services but not used locally, receives overwhelming attention. Despite the fact that Wi-SUN and TVWS are independent and uncorrelated technologies, they can be combined to create a hybrid ecofriendly wireless network system, named TVWS-Wi-SUN. For promoting the TVWS-Wi-SUN system, the IEEE802.15.4m, which is the standard for the TVWS wireless personal area networks (WPANs), has been released. The NB-OFDM based solution for TVWS-Wi-SUN is proposed in IEEE 802.15.4m. For implementing TVWS-Wi-SUN, the radio equipment based on IEEE 802.15.4m is developed. In this article, the performance of the developed radio equipment is verified through laboratory experiment. Experimental results provide a solid foundation to the developed radio equipment in achieving the requirements of TVWS-Wi-SUN system. |
