Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the contrast enhancement of the image, histogram equalization (HE) is used widely. After the HE processing, images have much contrast because an entropy of the intensity is maximized. However, the enhanced image becomes unnatural because plane parts of the image are over-enhanced. To cope with the problem, a gradient norm-based histogram equalization(GNHE) has been proposed in recent research. The GNHE has an advantage that the over-enhancement is suppressed in the plane parts. However, an overexposure and an underexposure are occured in the detail parts. In this report, we propose a contrast enhancement method which realizes the natural enhancement. Through the experiments using some images, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified.
