Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Fundamental framework of pattern recognition is generally considered to the mapping from pattern space, the set of observed patterns, into the set of classes. This paper proposed the new framework of the pattern recognition as the communication of classes via patterns. In the framework, the patterns are regarded as encoded classes. By the framework, the geometry of pattern recognition can be understood via communication theory. We consider the Fisher linear discriminant analysis through the communication theory.
