Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) An impact of accumulated polarization dependent loss (PDL) by optical switch devices in many wavelength optical packet switches with FDL buffers is evaluated and countermeasures are discussed. The impact of accumulated PDL is reduced by inter-wavelength FEC and polarization diversity coding. PDL problem disappears if polarization maintaining fiber is used over entire transmission lines.
