Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A moderately coupled multi-core fiber (MCF) design is proposed with the aim of realizing both low inter-core MIMO processing complexity and high space utilization efficiency. We numerically investigated the influence of mode coupling on the inter-core differential mode delay (DMD) in homogeneous core MCF, and successfully fabricated 125 μm-cladding 2 LP-mode 6-core fiber with the highest normalized channel multiplicity of 18 without a noticeable DMD increase induced by mode coupling. Finally, we investigated the impulse response characteristics of coupled multi-core fibers for further improving the spatial density.
