Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In a step-indexed few mode fiber using LP_<11> modes, there exists differential modal delay between different modes in LP_<01> modes even in an ideal fiber, because LP_<11> modes are not exactlly degenerated. In step-indexed fiber, LP_<11> modes are degenerated, because of the zeroth order approximation of the relative index difference, which is called weakly guided approximation, of the the wave equation, which is derived from the Maxwell's equation, and of the eigen equation connecting core and clad regions. In our research, we take into account of the first orde of the relative index difference to calculate DMD between LP_<11> mode, and show that we can cancel this DMD by tuning the differential term of the index. We also argue that the variation of DMD when parameters for tuning are varied from the idel values.
