Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) When three tone bursts are sequentially presented from three loudspeakers located at different orientations, a perceptual spatial pattern is affected by the temporal pattern of the tone sequence. To investigate the cause of the spatiotemporal interaction, locations of a sound image were measured in three stimulus conditions (one, two, and three sound conditions). The results showed that the locations of the sound image of the two sound condition were the same as that of the one sound condition. However, the locations of the sound image of the three sound condition were shifted from that of the one sound condition when the temporal pattern of three sound bursts was changed. Moreover, the value of the shift was strongly related to the temporal ratio between neighboring time intervals of the three tone bursts. These facts suggest that perceptual locations of a sound image are affected by a temporal position of the sound in sound sequence.
